ReCity project

Armenian-Austrian University Cooperation Meeting in Yerevan

The ReCity project was presented at the Armenian-Austrian University Cooperation Meeting convened in Yerevan, bringing together leading academics and project partners from both countries. The event, held under the auspices of the Austrian Partnership Programme in Higher Education & Research for Development (APPEAR), focused on strengthening institutional ties, sharing research outcomes, and fostering sustainable academic collaboration between Armenian and Austrian universities.

On 7 July Harutyun Vermishyan, ReCity project coordinator, and Shushan Abrahamyan, research assistant, took part in the meeting as a representative of the ReCity project, an initiative dedicated to the sustainable revitalization of Armenia’s former industrial towns. During the session on ongoing APPEAR partnerships, they presented the objectives and progress of ReCity, highlighting its interdisciplinary approach to urban development, the involvement of local actors, and the promotion of women’s engagement in urban planning. Their presentation emphasized the project’s contribution to inclusive education and sustainable city development, aligning with the broader goals of the APPEAR programme.

The meeting was organized by the Austrian Agency for Education and Internationalisation (OeAD-GmbH – Agentur für Bildung und Internationalisierung) in cooperation with the Austrian Embassy for Development Cooperation in Armenia, Yerevan State University, and the Armenian National Agrarian University. These institutions provided a platform for experience-sharing, networking, and discussion of challenges and opportunities in international academic partnerships.
